Starting from $22,780 including destination, the 2017 Mazda6 has been updated with the introduction of the Japanese automaker’s exclusive G-Vectoring Control vehicle dynamics technology, which is standard. In addition, the Mazda6 has received added sound absorption refinement and various other improvements.
The 184-hp, naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder SkyActiv-G engine carries over, as do the six-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmissions. New G-Vectoring Control software enhances chassis performance by using small amounts of engine torque in response to steering wheel input to shift load to the front or rear, increasing grip and stability, improving ride control and limiting understeer. Mazda says this system also helps a driver more easily maintain the intended line in any situation and should improve handling and stability in slippery conditions, such as rain or snow.
Step up to the Touring trim for $25,030 and your wheels get bigger — 19-inch alloys are standard, as is leatherette seating material, a power driver's seat, dual-zone climate control with rear vents and some additional safety features like blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, keyless entry, rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlights. A Bose audio system, moonroof and satellite radio package are available on automatic-equipped Touring models for an additional $1,325, or step up to the Touring Premium Package for an additional $1,425 to add LED headlights with adaptive front lighting, heated seats, auto-dimming mirrors and more.
Topping the range at $31,530 is the Grand Touring trim featuring standard navigation, leather-trimmed seats, eight-way power driver's seat and six-way powered passenger seat, paddle shifters and a full-color head-up display. Externally, the Grand Touring gets some trim changes, with a unique signature lighted grille, LED foglights, dark alloy wheels and a trunk lid spoiler. Safety features get a boost too, with standard lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, distance-keeping cruise control and autonomous safety braking support.
If you want to get even nicer, tick the $2,500 Grand Touring Premium Package option and you'll get regenerative braking with active grille shutters for improved fuel economy, rear-seat heaters, heated steering wheel, upgraded Nappa leather seats with contrasting piping, LED accent lighting, a black headliner and unique interior trim.
